Lindsey Phillips -

Owner/
Canine Behavior & Training Specialist

Lindsey grew up with dogs her whole life, so it was only natural that her path led to working with them.

Her professional journey began in a dog daycare and boarding facility, where she saw firsthand how many dogs were struggling with behavior and communication. That experience led her to pursue training and gain hands-on experience at a local high-volume facility, building strong foundations with dogs and their people.

Wanting to offer a more thoughtful and individualized approach, she founded Heart & Hound, where she continues to help build better lives through compassion and clarity.

Lindsey is certified through the Professional Association of Dog Trainers, holds her Bachelor's in Animal Science from The University of Tennessee, and has completed an exotic animal care internship with Zoo Knoxville, where she gained experience with individualized quality care, creative enrichment, and positive reinforcement-based training techniques with a wide variety of animals. She has completed two "Learn to Lead" workshops with internationally recognized canine behavior specialist, Cheri Wulff Lucas. She is Pet First Aid and CPR certified, and she is committed to continued growth - pursuing ongoing education and mentorship within the dog training field. She believes there is always more to learn, and she strives to improve every day - for the dogs and the people who love them.

At home, she shares life with her incredibly supportive partner, Sean, and their two beagles - Ludo and Odie. She also fosters for SOS Beagles, providing a safe haven for rescues to decompress, heal, and improve behavior before finding their forever home. She is reminded daily that no two dogs are the same, and continues to shape how she approaches training - with flexibility, empathy, and respect for each individual dog.

Sean Watson -

Canine Care & Handling Assistant

Sean supports Heart & Hound daycamp and boarding while creating a calm, safe environment for the dogs in our care.

While he didn't originally set out to work with dogs, he quickly grew to appreciate the depth of training and behavior work, and has fully embraced learning alongside the process.

He has a naturally gentle, low-pressure presence that makes him especially helpful for dogs who are nervous around men, allowing them to build confidence and feel safe at their own pace.

As he continues developing his skills in handling and training, Sean plays an important role in supporting both the dogs and the overall experience we strive to provide.

He is also Pet First Aid and CPR certified.

Ludo

Ludo is the definition of "knows no stranger." Friendly, affectionate, and always ready for a snack, he brings a calm, grounded presence into training sessions. He naturally remains neutral around other dogs, making him an ideal helper for pups who need a steady, reassuring example. Ludo helps show that the world doesn't have to feel overwhelming and that calm can be safe.

Odie

IMG_3087.jpeg

Odie is a sensitive soul with a big heart. While he can be a bit nervous with new people, he absolutely comes alive around other dogs - goofy, playful, and full of personality. Odie's story started as a stray, spotted on walks for months before finally finding his way into Lindsey's care as a foster, but it didn't take long to realize he was already home. He has worked through anxiety, fearfulness, and reactivity, and continues to thrive with structure, patience,  and understanding. Odie represents the dogs who need a little extra support and just how far they can come when they feel safe.

We believe great dog care takes a community. These are just a few of our trusted businesses and professionals that we are proud to work with and recommend. Together, we're dedicated to helping dogs and their people thrive.
